Security Inks

Security printing is the field of the printing industry that deals with the printing of items such as banknotes, passports, tamper-evident labels, product authentication, stock certificates, postage stamps, identity cards and a wide range of products. The main goal of security printing is to prevent forgery, duplicating, tampering, or counterfeiting. More recently many of the techniques used to protect these high value documents have become more available to commercial printers whether they are using the more traditional offset and flexographic presses or the newer digital platforms. Businesses are protecting their lesser value documents such as transcripts, coupons and prescription pads by incorporating some of the inks /methods listed to ensure that they cannot be forged or that alteration of the data cannot occur undetected. A number of technical methods are used in the security printing industry.

Thermochromic Ink - Reversible - Hot

Temperature activated colour change indications to create security marks – colour to colourless and colour to colour.

Thermochromic Ink - Reversible - Cold

Temperature activated colour change indications to create security marks – colour to colourless and colour to colour.

Thermochromic Ink Ireversible

Temperature activated inks - color change will only be once and permanent when the critical temperature is influencing the print.

Photochromic Inks

UV Lamp and Sunlight activated colour change for creating security marks – clear to colour effects and colour to colour effects created by uv exposure.

UV Sensitive Invisible Inks

Prints which are invisible will emit fluorescent glow on exposure to uv lamp narrow and broad wavelength – stamping and printing inks.

Infrared Sensitive Invisible Inks

Prints which are invisible will emit strong fluorescent glows when irradiated with infrared wavelengths - also visible inks which fluoresce under similar exposure.

UP Converter Inks – Antistokes

Up-Conversion inks which absorb lower energy and emit higher energy by up conversion and therefore have hi intensity fluorescence – generally by illuminating with lasers (high intensity light sources)

Fugitive Inks - Fluorescent Glow Additive

Minor addition of this additive in fugitive inks all shades ( for printing on bank cheques ) will create a uv sensitive bleeding trail of the ink. Useful to make secondary fluorescent fugitive inks of your own.

Secondary Fluorescent Inks

Inks with daylight visible shades which will not be excited by UV Light as such but when its tamper or alter they will fluoresce under UV Light exposure.

Optically Variable Inks

Printing ink containing optically variable pigments which show large colour shifts (strong variations in colour) depending on the angle of observation or lighting.

Iridiscent Inks

Pearl Luster inks which cause interference with incident light creating shiny pearl like shimmering effects with color changes when the angle of view or illumination changes.

Iridiscent Fluorescent Inks

Iridescent inks which fluoresce in the visible range when stimulated by uv light.

Iridescent Photochromic Ink

Iridescent inks which exhibit dynamic color change of the print matter when exposed to sunlight or UV light.

Penetrating Inks

Scratch Card Ink

A whole range of silver and black inks for scratch and reveal for lottery / cell phone cards etc

Rub And Reveal Inks

Temperature related inks/prints to reveal images / messages by rubbing – varying temperatures

Solvent Bleeding Inks

Security prints which will bleed if attempt to tamper with solvents.

Tactile Inks

Iridescent inks which exhibit dynamic color change of the print matter when exposed to sunlight or UV light.

Fluorescent Overprints

With bleeding show thru behind / uv glow / tactile feel in front.

Piezochromic Inks

Pressure activated irreversible image creation. Print an invisible result which develops color when scratched by hard materials or pressure of stylus.

Coin Activated Ink

Print invisible results on select papers and when the image area is rubbed with currency coins the image blackens to reveal the print matter.

Latent Image Ink - By Viewing Angle

Latent image printing ink composition, prints containing latent images recorded with the ink composition, and latent image data-based deciphering method and latent image data deciphering device.

Watermark Inks

A watermark is a recognizable image or pattern in paper that appears lighter or darker than surrounding paper when viewed with a light from behind the paper, due to paper density variations.

Anti-Photocopy Metallic Inks

With dual feature of photochromicity /uv light sensitive cannot be photocopied.

Anti-Photocopy Colors Inks

Provides a simple means of combating attempts at counterfeiting by colour photocopying gift tokens, luncheon vouchers, ticketing, etc. by differentiating the visual appearance of the original and the photocopy.

Metameric Colors

Pairs of (chemically different) colours that can barely be distinguished in one type of illumination, but show a noticeable colour contrast in another type of light or when viewed through a filter, usually a red filter.

Phosphorescent Inks

Inks which glow in dark after sufficient charging by exposure to natural or artificial light sources – also fluoresce under U.V. Light exposure – available as neon colors with fluorescent daylight visibility and U.V. Sensitivity.

Bi Fluorescent Inks Invisible

Bi-fluorescent inks are invisible to the naked eye and will show 2 different colours of fluorescence, depending on the wavelength of the UV light.

Lazer Effect - Security Ink

Lazer Effect are used in diverse industries for security and branding purposes. They can be used on various substrates to help protect, secure and authenticate different items. Used to create custom design hologram stickers in different sizes with company's name, logo, etc.

Offset Thermochromic - Security Ink

Temperature reactive ink; virtually invisible above a given temperature, it becomes coloured below this temperature and vice versa.
